February: Construction begins on CITY SC’s stadium
July 17: MLS delays CITY SC’s inaugural season because of the COVID-19 pandemic, pushing it back from 2022 to 2023
August 13: “St. Louis CITY SC” revealed as the official name of St. Louis’ expansion side at a virtual event at Harris-Stowe State University. The club’s colors and crest, both designed with references to the city of St. Louis, are also officially introduced
August 17: Lutz Pfannenstiel named first-ever Sporting Director of CITY SC
September 17: CITY SC breaks the MLS 24-hour ticket deposit record in the first 15 minutes of putting tickets for sale, eventually receiving more than 60,000 deposits
November 25: Lutz Pfannenstiel hosts the first of three virtual town halls discussing CITY SC’s Academy, describing its structure, grassroots training approach, and focus on molding well-rounded individuals
December 11: Hasib Zulfic introduced as CITY’s first-ever eMLS player
2021
March 4: CITY SC releases plans to develop a campus in the immediate vicinity of the stadium to house a state-of-the-art training facility, fan pavilion, team store, and club headquarters
March 31: Purina announced as CITY SC’s first founding partner and kit sponsor
July 14: Together Credit Union announced as the official banking partner of CITY SC
August 11: CITY SC’s inaugural U-16 and U-17 rosters are finalized
August 27: CITY SC’s U-17 team plays in the organization’s first official match, scoring a 4-3 victory over Chicago Fire FC U-17
September 23: CITY SC collaborates with myriad local organization to install the first outdoor futsal court in the City of St. Louis, located in Marquette Park
October 1: John Hackworth named Director of Coaching
October 15: CITY SC reveals that a public art monument commemorating the Mill Creek Valley neighborhood, created by St. Louis artist Damon Davis, will be installed along the Brickline Greenway
2022
January 5: Bradley Carnell becomes first head coach of CITY SC
February 1: CITY SC signs Bosnian National Team left-back Selmir Pidro, making him the first player signed to the club’s first team
February 7: CITY SC unveils their CITY2 roster ahead of the inaugural MLS NEXT Pro season
February 25: CITY SC partners with the Gateway Region YMCA to offer reduced-cost soccer programming to under-resourced youth across the St. Louis area
March 3: CITY SC signs forward João Klauss, making him the club’s first-ever Designated Player
March 10: Dale Schilly brought on as Academy Director
March 24: CITY2 competes in the inaugural MLS Next Pro match, beating Rochester New York FC 2-0 in a sold-out match at Robert R. Hermann Stadium on St. Louis University’s campus
April 2: CITY SC launches CITY Futures, a program led by Sascha Bauer designed to bring free, multi-level, high-quality soccer instruction to youth around the St. Louis region
May 12: Anheuser-Busch announced as a founding partner and official beer sponsor of CITY SC
July 19: Lou Fusz Automotive Network announced as CITY SC’s official automotive partner
August 19: CITY SC expands its Academy, adding U-14, U-15, and U-21 teams to pair with its U-16 and U-17 teams and create a comprehensive professional pathway to MLS
September 15: BJC Healthcare and Washington University Orthopedics announced as founding partners, with BJC becoming the club’s official medical services provider and WashU Orthopedics as the club’s official team physicians.
October 2: CITY2 wins inaugural MLS NEXT Pro Western Conference, defeating Tacoma Defiance 2-1
October 21: CITY SC sells out of season tickets for inaugural 2023 season
October 25: CITY SC renames stadium “CITYPARK” after restructuring partnership with partner and previous stadium-namesake Centene Corporation.
November 7: CITY SC acquires midfielder Aziel Jackson from Minnesota United FC, marking the first trade in the club’s history.
November 11: CITY SC makes its selections in the 2022 Expansion Draft, selecting forward Nicholas Gioacchini, midfielder Indiana Vassilev, defender Jonathan Bell, defender John Nelson, and forward Jake La Cava.
November 16: CITY SC officially unveils their home kit for their inaugural season
November 16: CITY 2 plays Bayer 04 Leverkusen in the inaugural event at CITYPARK
December 13: Dobbs Tire & Auto Centers announced as CITY SC’s official tire retailer and auto service partner

January 5: CITY SC releases their inaugural pre-season schedule
January 9: Caden Glover signed as CITY SC’s first-ever Homegrown
January 10: CITY SC announces that John Hackworth, John Miglarese, Elvir Kafedžić, Alex Langer and Jarryd Phillips will join head coach Bradley Carnell’s technical staff for inaugural season.
January 11: Hoffman Brothers announced as official home services provider of CITY SC
January 11: CITY SC holds first official training session
January 19: University of Missouri-St. Louis becomes official higher education partner and official university partner of CITY SC
January 24: CITY SC faces Philadelphia Union in first-ever preseason match
January 28: CITY SC win first-ever preseason match, beating Inter Miami CF 4-0
February 7: “Our CITY” sustainability initiative revealed, a program designed to make CITYPARK a zero-waste stadium with emphases on recycling, composting, efficient energy usage, donating food and eliminating single-use plastics.
February 17: Away kit is officially unveiled, its design inspired by the Gateway Arch
February 19: Pillars of the Valley dedication event held
February 20: Roman Bürki and Tim Parker become CITY SC’s first-ever captain and vice captain, respectively
February 25: CITY SC prevail 3-2 over Austin FC in the club’s inaugural match, becoming just the fifth expansion team to do so and just the third to do so on the road
February 25: Tim Parker heads in a corner kick to score the first goal in CITY SC’s history
February 27: World Wide Technology announced as founding partner and official technology partner of the club
March 4: CITY SC beat Charlotte FC 3-1 in the club’s first-ever home match, becoming the fourth club in MLS history to win each of their first two matches
