After narrowly missing out on a fourth-round berth in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, St Louis CITY2 are back in action at home to battle Minnesota United FC 2 (MNUFC2) at 7:00 p.m. CT this Sunday, April 24 at Hermann Stadium (Saint Louis University) in the MLS NEXT Pro match of the week. CITY2 will be looking to extend their three-game win streak in MLS NEXT Pro play after earning a gritty away win against Sporting KC II last weekend.

STL CITY2, currently in third place in the Western Conference standings, have won all their matches so far, scoring eight goals in the process. Even more remarkable is their defensive proficiency, with the team only conceding two shots on goal throughout their 270 minutes of game time in MLS NEXT Pro. The team’s strong pressing has been key to that impressive stat, with their opponents continuing to find it difficult to create goalscoring opportunities. CITY2 will be eager to replicate a similar feat as they take on an in-form MNUFC2 team.

After losing their first two games of the season against North Texas and Sporting KC II, MNUFC2 are currently on a two-game win streak, overpowering Real Monarchs and Colorado Rapids 2. In their last match against Rapids 2, they put four past their opponents while limiting them to zero shots on target. With both teams playing great soccer, fans can expect an exciting battle with both squad’s win streak and place in standings on the line.
