CITY2 Looking to Build on Strong Start to the Season
Fresh off their historic U.S. Open Cup win against Indy Eleven, St Louis CITY2 are back home to take on Tacoma Defiance at 7:00 p.m. CT this Sunday, April 10 at Hermann Stadium (Saint Louis University). CITY2 will be eager to add another three points to their record after winning the inaugural MLS NEXT Pro game in convincing fashion against Rochester New York FC.
STL CITY2 have now won both of their games 2-0 this season and have proven that they are building chemistry and improving in every area. Against Rochester, CITY2 controlled the game from the start, much to the delight of the sold-out home crowd in attendance. The team was incredibly organized defensively and showed that they can generate attacking opportunities in various ways.
So far this season, CITY2 has scored four goals with Wan Kuzain (2), Vitor Dias, and Ezra Armstrong all chipping in. While they have shown that they can find the back of the net, their impressive defensive grit and pressing makes it difficult for their opponents to generate chances. The team will hope they can continue their defensive organization and record another clean sheet at home.
CITY2 Head Coach John Hackworth and his team will look to continue their winning start but will have to face a tough Tacoma Defiance team who are coming off a 4-0 win in their opening game against Real Monarchs and a 1-1 draw in their last game against North Texas SC.
